Ernie Knoll, False Prophet?

For a moment let me write about a matter which is causing quite a stir in some circles. The man at the center of this controversy is Mr. Ernie Knoll, a professed Adventist (update: Ernie Knoll has now been officially disfellowshipped from the Seventh-day Adventist church) who began having dreams in 2005 that he considered to be from God. In these dreams an angel named "the herald" gives information to Mr. Knoll. Many sincere Christians have reviewed these dreams and found them to contain large amounts of truth...but finally there appeared a seed of deception...then another, and another.

Mr. Ernie Knoll's dreams are in direct contradiction to the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. It appears as if a great deception has begun. Many are being led astray. Get ready, and be sure to study study study the Word of God!

For some detailed analysis of some of the falsehoods in these dreams by a very respected and dear Christian evangelist, Steve Wohlberg, please visit the following site:

http://www.notaprophet.org/articles/ernie_knolls_dreams.html

Here is an article about the dreams by another respected and well-known man of God, G Edward Reid:

www.adventiststewardship.org/images/1707/pdf/Mar08.doc

Here is a link to a website where an in-depth review of Mr. Ernie Knoll and his dreams is made by numerous trusted Christians:

http://www.notaprophet.org/

Mr. Ernie Knoll was, I'm sure, very sincere in the early stages of these dreams and truly believed that they were from God. He has since been shown his error through many sincere Christians from the Bible and has chosen to reject plain Biblical truth in favor of his dreams. Pride probably has a lot to do with it. I hope he will consider carefully the consequences of his rejecting God's Holy Spirit. Lucifer's prideful fall began so subtly that even he didn't realize what the end result of his stubbornness would be. Please pray for Mr. Ernie Knoll that he will open his eyes and ears to God's pleas for him to return to truth, before it's too late for himself and the many he has deceived. Please pray for not one more soul to be deceived by this man and his dreams, which are being used by satan as a great tool for the end-time deceptions.

The part that disturbs me the most is the way this false prophet is trying to align himself with our church and the two largest ministries of truth: Amazing Facts and It Is Written. Mr. Ernie Knoll prophesied that he would become connected with Shawn Boonstra who would help spread these dreams, and that his path would also converge with that of Doug Batchelor. Now, these are two Christ-like men doing honest ministry and spreading the truth, and both have shunned Mr. Ernie Knoll and his demonic dreams. Yet the more this false prophet tries to link his name with God's true church and true laborers, the more non-Christians will come to view God's true church and true laborers as "in the same league" with this wolf-in-sheep's-clothing, thus greatly hindering God's actual work of spreading His true Gospel. Since becoming an Adventist I have already come to the realization that a significant number of denominations and non-Christians think that Adventists are a cult. How mightily satan has wrought his work of deception in these latter days.

Thankfully, I know One who is more powerful than all the fallen angels! And He will deliver all His people from the snares and deceptions of the wicked one.

Psalm 91:2-4, "I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.' Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler."

John 8:31-32, "...If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

John 8:36, "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

Amen!

  1. I find this article very interesting. Today as I was leaving church (I go to church in Maryland), a Brother offered me a pamphlet and invited me to Ernie Knoll's upcoming meeting in Laurel, Maryland. I am going to pray to God for the right words to explain to this Brother, who is a wonderful young man, why Mr. Knoll's dreams should not be considered as valid by SDAs.

And you are right about SDAs being considered as a cult by non-SDAs. That is one reason we cannot afford Ernie Knolls and his "interesting" visions.

    God Bless!

  3. Anonymous,

We are always to be aware, think/study for ourselves, and speak the truth. Trust no man for our salvation, be skeptical of and test all things. That said, what you are suggesting and what Ernie Knoll states in his dreams regarding tithe goes directly in oppostion to DIRECT and explicit guidance given us through the Spirit of Prophecy. Please do your homework. Speaking against the church alone is not a sign of being intelligent and thinking for yourself. See

So....I think our duty is to study all and accept what is truth...but...but....the probleme with our SDA pple is that they do not try everything...they just refuse all and in this way they are in danger to refus God Himself because He cames not in tha way expected by them.... This is the probleme brethren... If Ernie's Knoll dreams leed you to Christ...where is he wrong? May God bless all who seek Him with sincere hearts....

    1. Yes we must test everything Ellen White as well ,and our Bibles and turning to NiV NaV NeV on and on ,our Sabbath School is terrible for the use of all the versions,,I have asked an older Pastor that was here for awhile and i had given him a 1800 KJV for his friend immigrant they had said to him the Bibles have changed, when i talked again he said that the NiV is more close to the real Word, this was back a few years and ,we do talk on the phone and he was very upset that im worried about our Church ,that is for those higher up not us lower people , and i have the truth books and they show me he has went through what all prophets wanting not do it , footnotes and fear that God would send him to aplace to teach the children that are asleep before accountability about the Lord this would be a strong task

    2. I don not believe that he is a prophet, but I once did. The fact is, if Ellen White were to arise as a prophet today, the church would reject her. Most reject him because he claims to be a prophet, having never read a single dread.

  5. Well, I am not an Ernie Knoll follower but that site listed above by Wohlberg is nothing more than conference pandering nonsense telling us how we should only support the conference with our tithe which is utterly false. I did a whole study on this issue which clearly shows we have not only a right but a commission to support faithful self supporting workers. See it here: http://adventistawake.blogspot.com/2012/03/tithe.html

    1. When I did believe on Ernie Knoll, I had a site recruiting pastor Steve's points on his site.he showed that he had the spirit of antichrist. He attacked the fact that Christ came in the flesh like you and I. Romans 8:1-3. 1John 4:3.

  6. NJK, I really liked your blog bashing S.D.As!  Thanks to your support of Ernie I now know where I stand (run don't walk from Ernie.)  I do have one question though... I don't understand how you can support Ernie when your blog clearly says Jesus isn't coming back anytime soon!  This 100% contradicts Ernie so I'm confused?

Here is NJKs blog post on this

  7. Interesting (sarcastic) Comment and (fair/valid) Question. In regards to the comment, I am actually not “bashing”, I am simply denouncing what their persisted “sown” “strifeful” conduct will cause them to “whirlingly” “reap” (Hos 8:7), as the SOP has prophesied... = http://njkproject.blogspot.com/2011/01/gods-whirlwind-judgement-on-sda-church.html

In regards to your question, I explain in general in that “Testing the Spirit” blog post as well as specifically in the Knoll section, that I Biblically see those SDA Prophets and Knoll’s ultimate ministry as having messages with the purpose of Testing the profession of SDA’s, pointedly in regards to their claim that they believe the Second Coming is soon. So to Knoll, (and others), was given this “most imminent “Coming”” message, yet that all had little effect on the behavior of the SDA Church, indeed as seen by their vast majority and Church formal rejection of Ernie Knoll, a rejection which is actually unbiblical and baseless. So since the Church has failed to demonstrate that they actually believe that the Second Coming is very soon, then that seals the prior decision of their utter “Whirlwind” Judgement, and yet God’s “Church Triumphant” work will go on, with another group. (LDE 59-61).

  8. The purpose of Ernie Knoll`s dreams is to help the church to grow by getting the SDA church back to it's original blueprints. Those in authority speaking out against Ernie Knoll are wanting the SDA church to stay as it is, which God is plainly disatisfied with the condition of the SDA church. Christ second coming is nigh, that is nearer than we thought !

  9. Ernie Knoll's dreams are inspired from God, and if you read them, you will see the dreams are meant to edify the church. Ed Reid is pointed out in the dreams as some of his actions are a hindrance to the church, by misusing tithe money. Read the book The Truth, The Whole Truth, and nothing but The Truth. The SDA church will get back to it's original blueprints, that is for sure.

  10. Wow, we're still stuck on the tithe thing. How about the latest dream #65. "A Song and A Prayer". This dream isn't telling people to get back to basics or to edify the members of the S.D.A. church. Ernie claims that the whole SDA church and ministries in association with them, like Amazing facts etc. will be destroyed with fire before the general close of probation as a punishment from God. This goes 100% against what the BIBLE says. It's more of a message to run away from the church than to reform it. Just read the dream, then read the account of what will REALLY happen in Revelation and see just how far off Ernie is. Then ask yourself, who's cause does Ernie help by scaring people away from these ministries?

  12. True prophets have always been acknowledged by the Church, sonner or later. But monkey prophets have always been a plague for the Church and the world. Ernie Knoll may be smart, but his followers are surelly gullible.

    1. Hello FGL. I just noticed your comment here. I assume/(Biblically) gather that by “Church”, (and also going by the Biblical identifications for a True prophet (e.g., Num 12:6)), you mean the SDA Church since:
      (a) the history of OT Israel is a consistent one of (murderously) rejecting God’s True Prophets and accepting the many false, as Jesus summarized (Matt 23:29-36; 17:12-13)
      (b) the Apostolic Church did not ‘at first” reject any of the new grounds breaking prophets (e.g., Peter, Paul) that God raised amongst them. (But it can be argued that Paul was ultimately loathed by those he kept rebuking in his letters....some claim EGW said that it was because the Church did not pray for his deliverance from prison as they had for Peter that he died in custody)
      (c) I don’t see anyone qualifying as a prophet per se during Church History (95-1844)..and if certain people did (i.e., the Reformers), the “Church” then (i.e. the Roman Catholic Church) certainly did not ever accept them.
      (d) While EGW was readily accepted by many, and actually by only a small group of the Millerites, she was increasingly also loathed/ignored and by ca. 1888 she was marginalized by being informally banished to Australia.

So I am actually not seeing how ‘prophets have sooner or later been acknowledged by the Church’ as where this claim would actually qualify in the History of God’s Israel (OT+NT), His prophets were not, and most time ever, accepted.

And in regards to the SDA Church itself, I do not see how this can apply as, post-EGW, there has not been someone said to be, let alone accepted, by the SDA Church as a “prophet”. Correct me if I am wrong here...By the way, if Knoll was actually acting out of self-generated “smart” claims instead of by 2 Pet 1:21, then I am sure that he would long have been more “smartly” claiming things which are substantively and depictively” much more appealing and acceptable to the masses!

As explained on my “Testing the Spirits” blog post, Ernie Knoll, amongst other contemporary SDA prophets, are according to the Ezek 14:1-9 judgement by God. It never fails that as soon as a prophet is led by God to do any degree of a ministry of rebuke and correcting, then they are proportionally rejected. And now that Knoll has been led to prophesy destructive judgement upon the SDA Church (which dovetails with EGW’s own whirlwind vision) then he surely will be even more rejected.

  15. I read the dreams too and even believed them at one point, but God lead me away from that. I believe he allowed me to met him so that I could add to the divine opposition against the dreams. I did not reject him before reading the dreams like most do, I was honestly seeking truth.
Here are the major issues that I found.
